If You Could Make Someone’s Life Just a Little Easier, Would You?

To make my husband’s life easier, I have given up my career as an advocate for military families and wounded warriors.  If you missed it, the blog is here:  www.carissapicard.wordpress.com.   Apparently, I may have beencompromising his career.  Despite numerous pleas for my assistance, I have silenced myself.  Despite interview requests, I have declined.  Consequently, my marriage may be at an end. 
 
BUT I am still the spouse and mother of children of a soldier of the US Army deployed in Iraq.  And I feel compelled to share my personal experiences, as I am entitled to, about quality of care and patient/parent treatment.  
 
As you may or may not be aware, while Caynan was in Iraq, my eight year, Caleb, was institutionalized for suicidal and homicidal ideation (killing me or his brother)–with a red cross message to help me with him when he was released as well as with the care of  Connor, our five year old, whose tracheamalacia seems to be acting up (after two years of believing his trachea was totally healed).
 
Connor has been sick once again which liquid steroids cured.  His inhaled steroids that he has been on and his existing allergy meds are not improving his condition.  Dr. Hsu, who, BTW, is an EXCELLENT doctor and a credit to the DOD and the Army, is doing a med change and we are going to try to schedule a bronch to look at Connor’s trachea again hopefully this month before he deploys in June. 
 
Now, Caleb is sick with some sort of cold (cough, sore throat), on top of Connor’s existing, perpetual, un-abating cough.  I take Caleb to weekly doctor’s appts and pick up his four meds at Walgreens (Caleb has been dx w/ bipolar w psychotic features, dysthymia, and oppositional-defiance disorder as well as a very high IQ).  Connor’s claritin can be picked up at West Fort Hood’s pharmacy.  I ran out of flovent, the inhaled steroid, which Connor has...
